Jonathon Cole has lived in Indiana most of his life and grew up in Franklin, Indiana to a working-class family. His parents were always active in the local community during his childhood by both being involved with Franklin Heritage and his father being an organizer of the Franklin Jr. Cubs AAU basketball program. Jonathon naturally followed in their footsteps at an early age by serving on the Franklin Mayor’s Youth Advisory Board and volunteering numerous hours at the Johnson County Museum of History.
At just 21 years of age Jonathon pursued a City Council seat in Franklin, Indiana in a self-managed campaign. As a result, the opportunity to serve on the Mayor’s Downtown Revitalization Board came along which helped further fuel that passion to give back to his community. He would also volunteer to coach in youth basketball and serve on his Church’s board of directors.
Throughout his professional career Jonathon has been a part of the automotive aftermarket industry and has been involved with sales and product development for some of the largest retailers in the North America. During this time, he has worked with key suppliers from different countries to develop award winning products in his industry.
“My understanding of my community, working with customers both large & small, and working with international companies have been quite an experience. It has taught me more about different cultures and how we can find common ground working together. My grandfather, Phil Cole served under a congressman in the 1960s for this very same seat and often encouraged me to pursue what I am passionate about. I was fortunate to learn about his experience in Washington and can say that the seed was planted to pursue this seat at a very young age.” says Jonathon.
Three key areas of focus for Jonathon are creating jobs that pay livable wages, providing affordable healthcare for all, and helping America create a top-level education system. “Every citizen deserves an opportunity to live comfortably, and I will fight to make that happen. Seeing many Americans struggle to make ends meet while CEO pay continues to increase annually and watching families go bankrupt over medical care is unacceptable. If wealthy politicians will not fight for the working class, then I will do battle with wealthy politicians on their behalf.” says Jonathon.
